Outfit Of The Day New York 10 is Women’s contemporary ready-to-wear brand, which delivers classic design in modern, minimal aesthetic. The gentle tailoring in a sophisticated colour palette aims to present subtle Luxe and minimalist ease at an approachable price.
When and where did you first begin?
Having worked in the entertainment industry for many years where I was heavily exposed to fashion scenes only strengthened my lifelong dream of designing what I’d genuinely love to wear. I waited for the right time and opportunity, learning about fashion design and pattern making while building networks. Then I had this opportunity for a career change to undertaking the journey of entrepreneurship.
Where does your design inspiration come from?
As a big shopper myself, personal experience of wearing a variety of clothing from various brands definitely inspires me to develop my ideas and broaden the creative imagination. I also try to visit museums and exhibits twice a month at least. Art pieces give me endless inspiration of colours, angles, lines, structures, etc.
Describe your brand in 3 words.
Minimal, Chic, Classic.
What is the most difficult aspect of running your own label?
Getting the word out has been most challenging so far. I have this amazing, high quality collection of pieces but knowing not enough people know about it is quite devastating.
Which part of the creative process do you enjoy most, and least?
My favourite part of the creative process would be the very first rough sketching of my ideas (even if it ends up going through a series of revisions and transformation). Drawing what I had in mind for a while finally on to a piece of paper is like bringing my dreams to life.
Do you have a mentor?
My mom. She is the most fashionable, independent, and ambitious woman I know. She taught me how to mix and match clothing pieces, travelled around the world with me, and told me that the outfit is not complete without a spritz of perfume. A chat, even a quick one, with my mom always gives me so much courage and motivation to stay strong.
How long did your latest collection take to create?
A month or less. I have so many ideas I’ve dreamt about for a long time that bringing them to life doesn’t take too long. Production just needs to keep up.
What are your future plans?
I plan on bringing more minimal chic, unique but classic pieces, targeting mainly minimalist, fashionable women of ages between late 20s and 45. I have colour block black and ivory rib knit cardigan coming up very soon and a dress, and chic tailored oversized suit in the can.
Which pieces do you think everyone should have in their wardrobe?
White shirt or shirtdress
All-occasion black dress
Oversized blazer or better yet, a chic women suit
Comfortable pair of jeans of flattering modern fits.
What attracted you to The Clothing Lounge?
I have some good friends, followers, and clients in UK and thus being led to one of the most coveted websites like The Clothing Lounge was only natural.
The Summer 2020 collection focuses on tailored silhouettes with romantic twists in a modern colour palette of Black, Ivory, and white. Follow their Socials to know more.
