Bathed in the Italian sun: Interview with Lungomare

Founders of Lungomare, Gianni Bugli and Roberta Fabbri, proudly represent a belief that quality is always in fashion, just like their timeless, hand-made pieces. The nostalgic take on a summer on the Riviera Romagnola brings classic, comfortable forms that make people want to keep them forever.  Fashionable today, tomorrow and endlessly.

Bellariva Cashmere - Sun

When and where did you first begin?

I started as an art school student in Florence. I had a chance to complete an internship at a Milanese mansion and after that, I started my professional career working as a fashion designer for both, Italian and international brands.

Where does your design inspiration come from?

I get inspiration from three main sources: the world of art, the street and vintage.

Describe your brand in 3 words.

Unique, timeless garments. Adapted for modern needs.

What is the most difficult aspect of running your own label?

Commercialisation is the main challenge in the world of fashion. Especially for independent designers.

Which part of the creative process do you enjoy most, and least?

I enjoy the full process, following the path starting with a creative side and finishing with physical realisation of a garment. I do not like suspension moments like waiting for samples. At the same time, I realise it is an inevitable part of the process.

Do you have a mentor?

I connect best of two worlds. My style is a mix of oriental and western cultures inspired by Yohji Yamamoto and Jean Paul Gaultier.

How long did your latest collection take to create?

I worked on it through a couple of seasons making sure that I can present a timeless project.

What are your future plans?

I want to carry on my professional project in a successful manner, ensuring that my work is always up to date, precisely tailored to market needs.

Which pieces do you think everyone should have in their wardrobe?

Comfortable and timeless pieces should find a space in every wardrobe.

What attracted you to The Clothing Lounge?

I see The Clothing Lounge as a highly curated platform. I was looking for such a place to propose our brand.
